Windows 8 retail price has also been shot down to £49.99 in the UK if the users are opting to buy a copy of the new operating system instead of choosing an upgrade. The users can purchase the retail copy of Windows update at Microsoft’s website or through official dealers of the Windows 8 operating system.

Microsoft has stated that Windows 8 has been performing better than Windows 7 in the department of sales at the present moment. Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer said, “We’re seeing preliminary demand well above where we were with Windows 7, which is gratifying. Over the weekend we saw an incredible response around the globe to Windows 8 and the Microsoft Surface.”

Microsoft has also released the Windows Phone 8, its mobile operating system for Windows phones. Windows Phone 8 provides Microsoft an integrated platform with its operating system as it is a representation of Windows 8 on the smartphones. Windows 8 runs on computers, laptops and tablets with a promise of enhancing the experience of the user on touchscreen devices.
