Hurricane Sandy weather disruptions have also affected the technology industry as the threat of the storm Sandy proliferating the US forced Google to cancelled the Nexus event scheduled for today. The Google event was scheduled in New York which might be in the radar of the Sandy storm.
The Nexus event was speculated to release the leaked Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and the upgrade to the Android operating system. The Nexus 10 leaked images showed that Google was planning to take Apple head-on in the display category of the tablets. Google Nexus 10- tablet was rumoured to feature a 298.9 pixels per inch display which is greater than iPad 4′s 264 pixels per inch retina display.
Google released a statement which read, “We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more. Stay safe and dry, The Android Team.” Hurricane Sandy has been described as ‘The Perfect Storm’ by some publications as New York and New Jersey prepare to face the brunt of the storm.
Google’s event has taken the sidelines at the present moment, which will be a happy news for Microsoft as the software giant plans to unveil a Windows 8 smartphone in San Francisco. Microsoft had earlier released its tablet, Surface with the launch of Windows 8.
It might be a while since Google reschedules the event as Hurricane Sandy is growing in force and is speculated to connect with a cold front, thus increasing the damage to life and property.
