Ahead of BlackBerry 10 launch today, Research In Motion (RIM) has launched ooVoo, a free BlackBerry 10 app, which will be made available for the new BlackBerry 10 platform. ooVoo is an independent social video chat provider, which will bring its next-generation HD video communications service to the BlackBerry 10 platform.
The BlackBerry 10 platform allows ooVoo service to easily integrate with voice, video and the remarkably fast BlackBerry 10 browser, which will give BlackBerry 10 customers a multi-platform solution for video chat and instant messaging with friends, family and colleagues. Up to 12 contacts can connect simultaneously with ooVoo, enabling users to stay connected and share experiences.
ooVoo will be integrated into the basic calling functionality in BlackBerry 10, making it easy for customers to flow directly from a voice call to an ooVoo video call. BlackBerry 10 users will be able to chat cross-platform, and take advantage of the social features that ooVoo provides, for free. ooVoo’s Watch Together feature allowws users to have group video viewing experiences within video calls. Users can include video calling with friends and family by bringing friends along shopping trips through ooVoo to get real-time opinions on choices, or mommy group members showing latest happenings, for real-time opinions.
The newly announced BlackBerry 10 app is one of the first high-profile applications confirmed for the upcoming platform. RIM previously announced that it would ready as many as 70,000 BlackBerry 10 apps for the launch. ooVoo will be made available for BlackBerry 10 smartphones for free on all BlackBerry World storefronts later this year.
