Samsung Galaxy S3 mini will see the light today as confirmed by the South Korean manufacturer. Galaxy S3 mini will be unveiled at a Samsung event in Germany; the smartphone will house a 4-inch screen and is expected to intensify the competition between Apple and the South Korean manufacturer.
Galaxy S3 mini is a smaller variant of the existing Galaxy S3 in the market and with the release of Galaxy mini, Samsung is trying to target the small-screen market of the smartphones. Th existing Galaxy variant comprises of a 4.8-inch screen and is the best-selling smartphone for Samsung.
Announcing the launch of Galaxy S3 Mini at a press conference in Seoul, JK Shin, head of Samsung Mobile Communications, said, “We’ll be launching a 4-inch Galaxy S III on the 11th in Germany. There’s a lot of demand for a four-inch screen device in Europe. Some call it an entry-level device, but we call it ‘mini.”
Samsung Galaxy S3 mini is rumoured to house a dual-core processor, 5 mega-pixel camera, 4-inch super AMOLED screen with WVGA resolution and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean factory installed. Samsung UK declined to comment on the launch of S3 mini stating that there was nothing to announce relating to this product for the UK.
Samsung has been in constant competition with Apple since the patent wars started between the two technology giants. The release of Galaxy S3 mini comes after the launch of Apple’s iPhone 5 which was released with a 4-inch screen. Samsung is also planning to introduce its first ATIV Windows 8 tablet next month, and ATIV S smartphone in November.
