South Korean giant Samsung Electronics launched the Galaxy Beam, the company’s Android phone with a built-in projector, in the United Kingdom.
The smartphone combined with a 15-lumen projector was first unveiled at the Mobile World Congress earlier this year in February. The Galaxy Beam is capable of projecting HD images, videos and other content onto flat surfaces upto 50-inches wide from a distance of two metres.
Simon Stanford, the vice president of Samsung UK and Ireland T&D Division said, “It’s the kind of device you won’t find anywhere else – a high definition projector within a standard sized smartphone – and is great for people who want to watch movies, show photos to friends or need to give a presentation while they’re out and about.”
Samsung Galaxy Beam is available at Carphone Warehouse on T-Mobile and Orange for free on £31 monthly contracts. The Beam has a 8GB internal memory, a high-definition 5-megapixel camera and a powerful 2000mAh battery. The smartphone from Samsung runs on a 1GHz dual-core processor supported by Android 2.3 Gingerbread mobile operating system.
Samsung’s new handset will light up the British shelves from today and gets a 4-inch screen with 480 x 800 display with a uber-cool 720p projector. The projector phone Galaxy Beam surely could be a winner with the smartphone donning various roles – personal theatre, fun group sharing, outdoor entertainment, professional presentations and an educational tool with an OHP in your pocket.
