Apple iPhone 5 will now be available through a personal pickup service for those consumers who could not get their hands during the initial sale of the iPhone 5. Apple retail stores have been informing the consumers to order the iPhone 5 online and pickup the new iPhone on the following day; the service went live yesterday.
The pickup service is not limited to iPhone 5, but can also be availed on iPod and iPad according to Apple’s website. Customers can use the Apple store application or website to purchase the available iPhone 5 from the stock and collect it the next day. The pre-purchase of the iPhone 5 will allow the customers an upgrade in the delivery time when the smartphone is available because they would be actually purchasing the iOS 6 operated device rather than just ordering it.
Apple launched the pickup service as a way of saving the consumer’s time and patience. The pickup service will allow the consumers to check the availability before treading to Apple’s retail store and finding out that iPhone 5 is out of stock. The delivery timeline is fixed for one day as of now, if the customer fails to collect the purchased iPhone, the iOS 6 operated iPhone 5 will be unavailable, but the money will be refunded.
iPhone 5 has sold over 5 million units in three days after the smartphone started its sales cycle. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook said, “Demand for iPhone 5 has been incredible and we are working hard to get an iPhone 5 into the hands of every customer who wants one as quickly as possible.” Apple retail stores have been receiving new shipments of the iPhone 5 at regular intervals.
The pickup service will make it easy for the consumers to get their hands on the iPhone 5 without breaking any sweat. Apple also relayed that the iPhone 5 will be delivered on first come-first serve basis. The iPhone 5 is being sold in nine countries and the sales platform will extend to another 21 countries from September 28.
