BlackBerry Z10 might not be the company’s only product this year as the firm is looking to launch another product this year according to CEO, Thorsten Heins. Heins was animated in his discussion with CNET as he stated that he was excited about the product, but could not divulge details about the next BlackBerry offering.
Heins confirmed that BlackBerry would launch a mid-tier device later this year and another exciting device might surface during the holidays, but was not sure of the device launching by the end of the year. These details will make three to four smartphones released from the BlackBerry 10 manufacturer during this year.
BlackBerry unveiled two devices at its January launch event, an all touch-screen BlackBerry Z10 which debuts in the U.S today and the other device is the BlackBerry Q10, which is expected to hit the market one or two months after the Z10. Heins stated that the firm would like to offer all three tier models with touch-only and QWERTY variants.
Talking to CNET, Heins said, There’s one new product I’m really excited about, but I can’t really share it It takes BlackBerry 10 to another level in terms of the user experience. We’re building that portfolio. We need to get into that depth and into those tiers We’re cooking in the kitchen now.”
BlackBerry seems to be taking steps in the right direction as they recently announced that the app store reached 100,000 apps. Major names like Amazon Kindle, Open Table and The Wall Street Journal are now available, and others like CNN, The Daily Show Headlines, Maxim, MLB at Bat, PGD, Rdio and Skype are coming soon.
