Facebook news feed changes have been the talk of many technological avenues since Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the changes and called the news feed an attempt to create a personalised newspaper-like feel for the users. The new design of the news feed provides a unified experience for the users across all devices; mobile, tablets, personal computers and laptops.
People, who accessed Facebook on their smartphones and tablets already know the changes in the news feed design, which will be shortly rolling out to PC’s and laptops. Facebook has made many changes to the social networking site in recent times. Here is a list of the changes affiliated with the news feed:
Content based feeds: When the new design debuts, there will be no single news feed as content based feeds will be added to the home page. These feeds will divulge in categories like, All Friends, Photos, Music and Following. The top of the home page will list the different feeds for the user to choose from.
Increase in the size of photos: The size of the pictures will increase and this change will apply to every picture; images shared by the you, your friends and people you follow will receive the change. The thumbnails will also get bigger in the new design of the news feed. Prominence seems to be the major factor Facebook is targeting with this feature.
Third Party content: This content will take more space than earlier as pictures shared on third party avenues will get bigger in size. Links published by online websites will receive a longer description along with an increase in the size of the thumbnail.
Talking about the new design of the news feed, Zuckerberg said, “The design of your news feed needs to reflect this evolving face of who you’re sharing with.” What do you think of the new design of the news feed?
