Kingston 1TB and 500GB flash drives have now become a reality as the US company unveiled the DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 with storage capacities of 512GB and 1TB providing read/write speeds of 240MBps reads and 160MBps. Kingston announced the flash drives at the CES 2013, which has been the launch platform for many devices from big names.

The 512GB portable drive is priced at a whopping $1,750 while the price of the 1TB variant is still unknown. The 512GB drive is available now while the 1TB device will be available in March. The dimensions of the 512GB variant are 72×26.94x21mm and the 1TB drive is also speculated to be of the same size, making it rather an odd device, but the storage capacity is the major factor.

Talking about the new offering from the firm, Flash memory business manager at Kingston, Andrew Ewing said, “Our new DataTraveler HyperX Predator 3.0 allows users to store their entire digital world on a portable USB 3.0 Flash drive. The large capacity and fast USB 3.0 transfer speeds allow users to save time as they can access, edit and transfer applications or files such as HD movies directly from the drive without any performance lag.”

Many technical experts have deemed the flash drive to be too pricey and stated that it would be inconvenient to carry around, however, the prices might go down once the flash drive hits the market. 1TB flash drive is a very huge leap for storage drives as Kingston has tried to innovate in its efforts.

Kingston has also launched 32GB and 64GB USB 3.0 drives with read/write speeds of 50MB/s and 70MB/s. The lesser capacity drives will fall easy on your wallet. What do you think about the 1TB flash drive?
