iPad mini might be the main attraction at Apple’s event on October 23. Apple has delivered invitations for the event which is widely speculated to be the platform for the unveiling of iPad mini, Apple’s smaller variant in the tablet section. The event is scheduled to take place in the California Theatre in San Jose.
Apple sent out an invitation which read, “We’ve got a little more to show you” with Apple’s logo profoundly displayed in the background. Apple seems to enjoy the cryptic nature of the invites as they displayed their advertising skills in the invitations of event which launched the iPhone 5.
iPad mini is speculated to be Apple’s official entry in the small tablet market which is governed by Amazon Kindle and Google Nexus. iPad mini is rumoured to feature a 7.85-inch screen with liquid crystal display and the recently introduced lightning connector. The smaller iPad is also alleged to be thinner and priced lower than the existing variant of iPad.
Previously, Apple has not been interested in the small tablet market, but the success of other small devices from its competitors seems to have changed the outlook of the California-based technology giant. Expressing his views to the late Steve Jobs, Apple’s head of iTunes business, Eddy Cue said, “I believe there will be a 7-inch market and we should do one.”
iPad mini event, as the event on October 23 is being called now, is scheduled two days prior to the launch date of Microsoft’s tablet, Surface. Microsoft is also planning to launch the Windows 8 operating system along with the tablet.
