iPad mini might be a reality after-all as leaked images of Apple’s smaller variant of iPad surfaced online. The leaked images of iPad mini show a device which sports a 7.85-inch liquid crystal display placing it in the category of Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle Fire.
iPad mini release rumours were accentuated when Wall Street Journal reported that Apple had ordered 10 million units of iPad mini from Asian component makers. The California giant was also rumoured to send invites for an iPad mini related event scheduled for today. There have been no such invitations yet in the news.
The leaked images of iPad mini also show the device utilising the problem riddled new connector introduced with the iPhone 5. iPad mini is alleged to release on October 17, a few days before Amazon Kindle Fire and Microsoft Surface go on sale in November. iPad mini features are rumoured not to include the much-loved Retina display which has become resident to Apple devices.
The recent rumours indicate that the iPad mini is expected to release only with a Wi-Fi connection and not include a cellular connection. Apple has the 9-inch iPad ruling the tablet market and with the iPad mini the Cupertino technology giant makes a bid for the smaller tablet territory.
iPad mini has not been officially claimed yet, though it was rumoured to be under production in a factory in Brazil. The price of Apple iPad mini has not been reported yet, though it is expected to cost less than the existing variant of iPad. Apple has refused to provide any information on the iPad mini release.
